Regards sur Domaine de Long Dai - 2024
Zixuan Zhang
Zixuan (Leah) Zhang, born in 1992 in Shandong, is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, where she earned an MFA in Photography. Her practice is research-based, spanning film, photography, and sound.
Leah explores the materiality of images, the ontology of media, the act of looking, and the complexities of visual transfiguration, along with its social implications. In recent years, her work has focused on extraction and alchemy — both as themes and conceptual frameworks — reflecting on embodied experience within a politicised Anthropocene.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Times Museum in Guangzhou, the Modern Art Museum in Shanghai, Framer Framed in Amsterdam, Make Room in Los Angeles, and ClampArt in New York. She is currently an artist-in-residence at De Ateliers and Le Fresnoy, and lives and works in Amsterdam.
