Regards sur Domaine de Long Dai - 2023
Yuyang Liu
Yuyang Liu discovered photography at the age of 15, when he began documenting his teenage life and the rapid changes taking place in his native province of Sichuan. Initially self-taught, he won the prestigious Magnum Fellowship in 2014, before going on to study photography in New York.
With great patience, remarkable sincerity and a unique perspective on documentary photography, he draws attention to a variety of subjects around the world: daily life in North-East Asia, fishing communities in West Africa, and the massive urbanisation of China. He served on the jury for the 98th ADC Annual Awards in the photography category, was a finalist for the Eugene Smith Grant in 2020, named by TIME Magazine as one of the ‘Nine Chinese Photographers to Watch’, and selected for the PDN 30 list in 2017.
His work has been published in TIME, Science, The Lancet, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, amongst others, and exhibited in galleries in Paris, New York, London and China.
On the commercial side, he has created campaigns for internationally renowned brands such as Adidas, Allianz, Airbnb, Apple, HSBC, Jordan, JD.com, Nike, OLAY, Pandora and Universal Beijing Resort.
