Regards sur Domaine de Long Dai - 2023
Yuyang Liu
Yuyang Liu first picked up a camera at the age of 15, documenting his teenage life and the rapid pace of change in his home province of Sichuan. Initially self-taught, he was awarded the Magnum Fellowship in 2014 and later pursued formal studies in photography in New York City.
Known for his patience, sincerity, and distinctive documentary style, Liu has shed light on diverse subjects across the globe — from everyday life in Northeast Asia and fishing communities in West Africa to the vast urbanisation of China. He served as a jury member for the 98th ADC Annual Awards in photography, was shortlisted for the Eugene Smith Grant in 2020, named by TIME magazine as one of the “Nine Chinese Photographers You Need to Follow”, and was recognised as an emerging talent in the PDN 30 in 2017.
His work has been widely published in TIME, Science, The Lancet, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal, among others, and exhibited in galleries in Paris, New York, London, and across China.
Liu’s commercial portfolio includes campaigns for global brands such as Adidas, Allianz, Airbnb, Apple, HSBC, Jordan, JD.com, Nike, OLAY, Pandora, and Universal Beijing Resort.
