Evgenia Arbugaeva
Evgenia Arbugaeva was born in the town of Tiksi, in the Russian Arctic. In 2009, she graduated from the documentary photography and photojournalism program at the International Center of Photography in New York, and since then has worked as an independent photographer.
“In her personal work, Evgenia Arbugaeva often turns her gaze back to her homeland, the Arctic, discovering and capturing remote worlds and the people who inhabit them.”
She has won several competitions, including the ICP Infinity Award, the Leica Oskar Barnack Award, and the Magnum Foundation Emergency Fund Grant. Her work has been exhibited internationally and has appeared in publications such as National Geographic, mare, Le Monde, and The New Yorker, among others.
