Charlotte Dumas
Fascinated by the ambivalence of the relationship between humans and animals, photographer Charlotte Dumas closely examines the way we use animals and coexist with them.
In 2012, she began using moving images alongside her photography. Her first video work, Anima (2012), shows horses at Arlington National Cemetery (United States) as they sleep at night in their stables.
‘The idea that the state of humanity can be read and studied through the way we behave towards animals’ is the common thread running through her work.
Later, in 2015, she began working on the photographic project Stay about the remaining native horses in Japan. Her sensitive eye has been the driving force behind many projects.
At Lafite, she focused her lens on our beloved herd of 30 cows from the Landes marina.
