A New Technical Leadership Dynamic For The Bordeaux Châteaux

With the aim of reinforcing the new technical investment and detailed attention on our vineyards in Bordeaux, the Management of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) have put in place a new technical leadership dynamic for the Châteaux.
Eric Kohler, who has been with DBR (Lafite) for 25 years, will take on a new role as Technical Director focusing on Château Lafite Rothschild and Château Duhart-Milon. As both properties continue their transition to organic operations, it is more important than ever that their technical leadership is able to dedicate a greater attention to detail and meticulous management daily.
In Pomerol, at Château L’Evangile, in order to bring even more precision, focus and attention, Olivier Trégoat will be taking on the role of Technical Director, with a new technical manager joining him shortly at the Château. He will also take on technical management of Château Rieussec, with its unique viticultural challenges as well as the significant challenges facing the Sauternes appellation, along with Château Paradis Casseuil, in the Entre-deux-Mers.
Olivier has been with us for a number of years in a consulting role and over the last 5 years has been Technical Director for our estates outside of Bordeaux. He brings his ability to go into in-depth detail and a fresh perspective to L’Evangile and Rieussec. Olivier will also continue to have oversight for Long Dai in China, Domaine d’Aussières in the Languedoc, Los Vascos in Chile and Bodegas CARO in Argentina.
Eric and Olivier took up their new roles this week and we are very pleased to be able to count on the expertise and experience of both, along with their teams, as we look to the future of our Châteaux – with transparency, resilience and respect each year for the Earth and the fruit it bears.
