Légende, Bordeaux red
Vintage 2008
2008 was the smallest harvest brought into the cellars since the frost of 1991- 20% less than the already small 2007 harvest. After early budburst, the vines were subject to late frosts which wiped out part of the crop in many vineyards. Just as in 2007, the 2008 vintage was saved by very favourable dry and sunny weather in September and October. It is a very good vintage, probably better than 2006 and 2007, even if it is far from being homogenous; the best 2008 wines have levels of fruit and freshness rarely equalled.
Colour: Fine, intense ruby colour.
Nose: Complex, elegant and expressive, combining notes of dried fruit (figs, almonds) with aromas of ripe fruit (blackberry jam) and liquorice.
Palate: Balanced and pleasing, with rounded, silky tannins, well-integrated woodiness and an excellent spicy finish.
