Professions in wine : The Chef of Lafite

Château Lafite Rothschild does not have a restaurant open to the public. The Chef prepares only for the Rothschild family. However, sometimes dinners are held at the estate for business or friendly occasions.

Bruno Bœuf has been the Head Chef of Lafite since 1995. He draws on his long-standing vocation as Head Chef in family cooking, practiced since his childhood. His sources for inspiration can be found in his training (particularly alongside Jean Pierre Caule "Au bon coin du Lac" at Mimizan, at the Châteaux de Montvillargen and de Mortefontaine in the Oise region), as well as his professional experience serving the finest tables in all French gastronomy: "La Tour d'Argent", le Palais de l'Elysée, Le Concorde Lafayette, and David Van Lear's "le Bamboche".

Bruno is particularly fond of preparing starters and fish, because "these are the starting points for meals". They send initial signals to the tastebuds, trigger conversation, lead to the discovery of a product and its preparation, they spark questions... cooking is the real language of cultural exchange... and so is the wine that completes the meal."
