Los Vascos, 1 year after...
Dear Friends,
Many of you contacted us expressing concern and offering support after the devastating earthquake that hit Chile on 27 February 2010.
We were very lucky and the estate only suffered some material damage. Everything is now back to normal. There were some shipping delays but these have been resolved.
However, the problems that we have encountered are nothing compared to the disasters experienced by the population, with the loss of human life, and the devastation of infrastructure, houses and schools. The team at Los Vascos took an active part in providing supplies and support for the most severely hit. Among the numerous initiatives, I would like to mention the provision of food, clothing, wooden housing and the setting up of a radio communication network and bus transport, that were organized by a group of volunteers from Los Vascos.
The reconstruction programme is now accompanied by tremendous solidarity aimed at improving housing and education facilities for the local population.
In conclusion, I wish to stress our pride in the actions undertaken by our teams over the last few months and would like to thank all our partners and customers. Despite the earthquake, Los Vascos'sales have been excellent this year, which was undoubtedly the best support you could have given our teams.
