Both French team finalists, the Central School and the Faculty of Political Science of Paris were challenged by the two British teams from Oxford and Cambridge. The various tests included blind tasting, impromptu presentations and quizzes of increasing difficulty.
The team from Oxford succeeded brilliantly followed closely by Cambridge, the IEP and the Central School. A double magnum of Château Lafite Rothschild 1990 was the first prize to the winners, while the other teams were consoled with a double magnum of Carruades Lafite 1990. A dinner chaired by Baron Eric was the fitting end to a glorious afternoon. Dinner wines included, among others, a splendid Châtea Lafite 1981 served with a country soup and grilled rib-eye steak and a fabulous Rieussec 1967 with dessert!
