The aim of the festival “Les Estivales de Musique en Médoc” is to highlight the most promising talents in classical music. It is the only European festival to devote its entire programme to young prize winners from international competitions.
From the festival’s first edition in 2004, the link between classical music and wine has been clearly displayed in this region famed for its winemaking know-how. The festival takes the form of a musical journey through the Médoc: some of the region’s most prestigious châteaux agree to host these young artists to give a concert.
The festival takes place in July each year and has become an unmissable date for all lovers of classical music.
Château Lafite Rothschild has the honour to be part of this fine adventure. It was thus that the château welcomed the talented Nathalia Milstein on 7 July this year. A young pianist aged 20, she is the first woman to have won the Dublin International Piano Competition.
The concert was held in the circular chai at Lafite. In this magical, timeless space, Nathalia Milstein was able to enthral her audience with the melodies of Robert Schumann and Prokofiev.
An unforgettable moment for the audience, who were also able to enjoy a tasting of wines from the château.
